About The Event

Saint Phanourios the Great Martyr. Saint Phanourios is a beloved saint of the Orthodox Church, known especially as the “Revealer” or “Finder.” His name comes from the Greek word phanerono (φανερώνω), which means to reveal or bring to light. He is often invoked by the faithful when something is lost — whether a physical item, a solution to a problem, or spiritual guidance.

Although little is known about his life, a miracle-working icon of him was discovered on the island of Rhodes in the 14th century, showing him as a young soldier holding a cross and surrounded by scenes of his martyrdom. Since then, devotion to him has spread throughout the Orthodox world.

A beloved tradition connected to Saint Phanourios is the offering of the Phanouropita, a sweet bread or cake baked in his honor, often shared in church as an expression of thanksgiving when prayers are answered through his intercession.
