History of Our Church in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, CA

 

Our journey started in 1979. Each Sunday, Divine Liturgies, baptisms, and weddings were held in the cafeteria of a junior high school in nearby Solana Beach. Sunday School was held in the adjoining classrooms.

 

With the Lord's assistance we subsequently purchased and developed a five acre piece of land, construction of the Senior Center, which served as our interim church for 14 years, the addition of 30 housing units for our senior citizens, the purchase of three additional acres for future improvements and, ultimately, construction of the Church and its community facilities is a testimony to the faith and the intensity of dedication of our parishioners.

 

The awe-inspiring cross, totally unplanned reflecting daily on the gold dome reminds us that this church was meant to be. We are the "Church with the Shining Cross."
