Salutations Service

During the sacred season of Great Lent, we gather on Friday evenings to offer the Salutations to the Most Holy Theotokos, also known as the Akathist Hymn. This beloved and poetic service is a beautiful tribute of praise, gratitude, and devotion to the Virgin Mary.

Each week, we chant a portion of the Akathist, reflecting on the mystery of the Incarnation and the role of the Theotokos in our salvation. The repeated refrain, “Rejoice, O Bride Unwedded,” echoes through the church like a garland of prayer, weaving together theology, reverence, and heartfelt devotion.

The gentle rhythm of the hymns, the glow of candlelight, and the prayerful stillness of the evening create a sacred pause in the Lenten journey. Whether you attend one week or all five, the Salutations offer comfort, hope, and a deeper connection to the Mother of God.
